SIDDHARTHA MUKHERJEE
Siddhartha Mukherjee is a scientist and artist in equal measure. His research in turbulence in flowing matter across scales lends itself readily as a doorway to explore visual patterns and aesthetics. He augments this with a passion for street/documentary photography and interest in a wide range of visual arts. While pursuing his PhD at TU Delft, Netherlands, he found a niche in Generative Art. Some of his works have been exhibited at the Highlight Festival, Rotterdam Photo Festival and Museum Prinsenhof exhibition on algorithmic retellings of classical paintings by Pieter de Hooch.
Siddhartha's works arise from algorithms designed to evoke multiple aesthetic cues, treating the notion of familiarity as a point of departure. These works are often playful, veering wholly on art, while at others being rooted in Natural phenomena and data, thereby also serving as scientific visualizations.
Currently, Siddhartha is a researcher at the International Center for Theoretical Sciences (ICTS-TIFR), Bengaluru, where he also teaches a course on Algorithmic Art and Visualization.
